Potassium Iodide is an important supplement in the arsenal of a soldier.

Is Potassium Iodide a natural compound?

Potassium iodide is commonly found in nature, such as in kelp, and is a bioavailable source of iodine.

Excerpt from Volume 1, Number 5 of the LIDTKE Letter:
"In 1986, Belarus, Ukraine, and Russia were members of the Soviet Union, and all three, especially Belarus, were heavily irradiated by the fallout from Chernobyl. We now know that parts of the population received supplements of potassium iodide and zeolite, and parts of the population were evacuated, but at the time very little was being revealed to the West."

As a component of the thyroid hormones, iodine helps to control metabolism, including the burning of fat, and contributes importantly to both physical and mental development.* Furthermore, adequate levels of iodine in the diet may aid in your body's detoxification process.

In our arsenal of foods and supplements that promote health, iodine clearly is an important nutrient and commonly is added to table salt for this reason. As Dr. Terry Wahls explains, iodine is important for brain development and the production of myelin, the insulation that speeds up and protects nerve transmission. She further states that iodine supports the removal of toxins, such as heavy metals and may help maintain breast and prostate health later in life.
